Senator Obama (D-IL) was questioned tonight
at the first New Hampshire Debate before the upcoming primary as to
what his thoughts were about the obvious successes of the troop surge.
After stating that he was opposed to the Iraq war in the beginning and
opposed to the troop surge although admitting that an additional 30,000
troops would have a dampening effect on the violence, Obama said this:
“I would point out that much of that violence has been reduced
because there was an agreement with tribes in Anbar province — Sunni
tribes — who started to see, after the Democrats were elected in 2006, you know what, the Americans may be leaving soon,
and we are going to be left very vulnerable to the Shi’as. We should
start negotiating now. That’s how you change behavior.” — Sen. Obama
Senator, we started to see a reduction in violence in the Anbar
province when we started to capture and kill most of the terrorists
hiding out in the outlaying regions! Chalk one up for the US Military,
General P., and President Bush. Nice try though. What kind of twisted
logic does it take to actually believe that the enemy will appreciate
Democrat victories in the polls so much that they’ll quell their
violent ways?
